Midnight Stars - Exclusively Annie's Pattern

Somewhere in the excitement between Christmas and starting to share projects related to Valentine's Day I missed sharing my Midnight Stars quilt design with you.  YIKES!  This is such a fun design and fits perfectly with all my other "Winter Blues" quilts.

This quilt design is published as an Exclusively Annie's pattern and is available for purchase here

Midnight Stars is perfect for any lover of blues (That's me!), for a boys room or for a guest room with blue decor.  There is a lot of variety in the blocks with squares, triangles, pinwheels and stars to give it visual interest.  Made in any colorway that fits decor or personality, Midnight Stars could be a great addition to a kid's bedroom.

For the sample quilt, I used Stonehenge Verona from Northcott fabrics.  The beautiful fabrics allow the design to shine through.

For batting, I used Warm 80/20 from The Warm Company to give it a soft drape but yet be nice and warm.

To purchase the Midnight Stars quilt pattern, here is a direct link.   As always, I'd love to see the version that you make!  Be sure to tag @masterpiecequilting and @anniescraftstore when posting on social media.

Snowball Quilt Block Challenge 2021 - Fabric Pull

I'm super excited to be part of the Snowball Quilt Block Challenge 2021.

I'm partnering with a group of leading designers to bring this super fun experience to you.  Each of us have been challenged to take a basic snowball block and re-imagine it.  I've been working on my design and am pretty pleased with it - but I might make a few changes.

Each Monday in February, the participating designers will be sharing about the challenge on their Instagram feeds.  Some of us are adding other social media too.   If you don't already follow me on Instagram, I'm @masterpiecequilting

This week I'm sharing the fabrics that I'm using for the challenge.  My quilting style is modern traditional so I'm making my version of the traditional snowball block using bright, modern solids.  I've grabbed a fat quarter bundle of Michael Miller Cotton Couture Sew Colorful Colorwheel and am pairing it with Powderblue and Candlelight solid yardage.

If you want to use the same fabrics that I am using, they are available in my Etsy shop.

Here is the list of Instagram handles of the participating designers.  Each of us are sharing our fabric pull and / or color scheme on Monday February 1st.

Petal Power Quiltalong

I'm so excited to share that I'll be leading a Quiltalong for my Petal Power Quilt in the Annie's Quilting Facebook Group starting February 15th!

If you aren't familiar with Petal Power, it's one of my latest designs and it's the Spring 2021 issue of Quilter's World magazine.  Here's the link to my original blog post in case you missed it.

We are going to have so much fun during this Quiltalong!  As I'm taking you step-by-step through how to make the quilt top, I'll be sharing my tips and tricks for success.

We will be starting on Monday February 15th with a Facebook Live at 12 noon EST in Annie's Quilting Group.  If you aren't already a member, click here to join.   And don't worry if you aren't available at that specific time, the replay of my presentation will be available for you to watch at your convenience later.

What do you need to participate?

You will need the pattern which is in the Spring 2021 issue of Quilter's World Magazine.  If you aren't a subscriber, check your local quilt shop or newsstand for a copy or purchase online here.

If you want to make your version using the same beautiful fabrics I used, look for a retailer that carries the Solid-ish Watercolor Texture Collection by Kimberly Einmo for Timeless Treasures fabric company.  The yardage needed is listed in the pattern.

We will be using raw-edge fusible applique to make the petal block, so you will also need fusible web with paper release.  I used Lite Steam-A-Seam 2 from The Warm Company.

I look forward for February 15th and can't wait to quilt with you.  As you are selecting your fabrics or purchasing your magazine, be sure to share a photo in Annie's Quilting Group and feel free to tag me at @masterpiecequilting

And I almost forgot!  If you have any friends who you would love to make this quilt with, be sure to invite them.  Quilting with friends is the best!

Happy Hearts Mug Rug - Perfect for Valentine's Day Gifting

I'm on a Valentine's Day kick this year.  I'm not sure why but I'm having fun designing patterns that are related to hearts and Valentine's Day.

I just added my Happy Hearts Mug Rug pattern - both PDF digital download and Print version (shipping included) to my Etsy shop.  This pattern had previously only been available thru the Craftsy / Bluprint shop that closed so I'm excited to have it listed again.

I originally designed this mug rug when I was an Island Batik brand ambassador, so the first version was made in batiks but it works perfectly for quilting cottons as well.  I'm working on a second version made with red and pink quilting cotton.

(Don't look too close, I have two of the same fabrics touching - which bugs me - so I need to un-stitch, flip a row around & restitch.  Does same fabric touching bother anyone else in a scrappy project, or is it just me?)

I really like this mug rug because it's a bit oversized so there is plenty of room for a beverage and a snack.

I'm making several mug rugs and am planning on giving them as Valentine's Day presents - just for fun.  They will be easy to make using stash fabrics and easy to mail to friends with a quick note and some candy.

Get your pattern today and see how many you can have made by Valentine's Day!

PDF Digital Download Version

Print Version (shipping included)

I send out a weekly Masterpiece Quilting Studio News email full of quilting tips, techniques, new product releases and other quilty goodness.  I'd love to deliver it directly to your inbox.  Click here to sign up.  And as always, your email is safe with me.
