How does A Virtual Trunk Show work?

Tonight or tomorrow morning, go to each designer's Facebook page and "like" or "follow" it so you will receive a notification before the trunk show starts.

At the designated time or a few minutes before, go to the specific designer's Facebook page and watch the trunk show.  It will last about 15 minutes and in the comments you have an opportunity to ask questions, if you desire.  Your question might not be answered during the Live broadcast, but most designers will go back through the comments and answer after their presentation has ended.

If you miss a show, you should be able to go back to the designer's page and catch a replay.   Please remember that every designer does their "live broadcasts" a little different, so you may need to roll with it.   I try to replay mine and then also post to YouTube.

Each day, I plan on posting the next day's schedule so you can follow along.  To make sure you are getting my blog posts, be sure to enter your email and subscribe to my blog too!

My Design - Debby's Quilting: A Fun Collaboration with Debby Brown

I'm excited to share a super fun collaboration that I'm doing with my friend and fellow quilt designer Debby Brown of Debby Brown Quilts.

I will be making a quilt top using my Modern Bars quilt pattern and then sending it off to Debby who will work her quilting magic on it!  And the best part is that you will get to watch her quilt it and learn more about why she chooses the patterns she uses and how you can stitch the exact same quilting patterns yourself!

So the first step - selecting the fabrics!

Here is the original Modern Bars quilt made with Island Batik fabrics.

While I love the original, I'm opting for a funner, fresher, more modern look with this version.  Here are the fabrics I've pulled so far.  Aquas and teals from my stash paired with a pure white background.

I think this color palette will give me that light and fresh look I like in a modern quilt.

Stay tuned as Debby and I post about the progress on this collaboration.

And if you are looking for the Modern Bars pattern, it will be available soon too!

Benartex Precut Project Hop - Better Not Pout by Nancy Halvorson

I am so excited to be part of Benartex's Precut Project Hop !  I hope you have been enjoying the hop as much as I have been.  It's so much fun to see all the beautiful fabrics and patterns that are being showcased.   If you are finding the hop for the first time today, be sure to hop on Benartex's Facebook or Instagram pages for the full tour!

I'm also equally excited to have the opportunity to make a quilt using Nancy Halvorson's Better Not Pout fabric collection.

Nancy is one of my favorite designers and there is so much I love about this collection - you must check it out.

I used my new Courthouse Corners pattern which is designed specifically for fat quarters.  The pattern is available for digital download in my Etsy shop and the print pattern will be available soon too!
I had a lot of fun with the layout for this quilt and arranged the blocks from light to dark diagonally across the quilt.  The pattern really showcases the fabrics!  Here are a few more photos of my Courthouse Corners quilt.   Enjoy!

St Patty's Day Mug Rug

Since I didn't have anything quilted to celebrate St. Patty's Day, I decided to make a new mug rug!

I'm using my Super Simple 9-Patch Mug Rug pattern that is available for FREE in my Bluprint Pattern Store.  (While you are there, check out my other patterns available too!)

This is a completely stash based project.  I grabbed two greens that played well together for the 9-patch and binding and a coordinating green for the backing.

The first step is to make the 9-Patch block.

Next I layered the backing, two layers of batting and the top.  This is where I deviate from the pattern which uses a fusible foam instead of batting.  Since this was a stash project, I used what I could easily access in my studio.

Please note:  if you are planning on using this mug rug with really hot coffee mugs or soup bowls, make sure you use a heat-reflective batting to prevent any damage to your furniture.

I did some really simple 1/4" quilting to hold everything together.

And now, I'm really to celebrate St. Patty's Day in style!
And as an added bonus, the fabrics I pulled go perfectly with my green Depreciation glass pieces!  Maybe I need to make more green table runners & toppers to match my antique dishes :)
