Welcome Home! Dots & Dashes and Stacked Deck from Island Batik

I'm excited to Welcome Home two more of my quilts from Island Batik!  Dots & Dashes and Stacked Deck.

To celebrate their arrival, I taped a quick box opening video.

Here are a couple full view photos of the quilts so you can better see what they look like & links to purchase the patterns too.

Here is Dots & Dashes made with Island Batik's Ancient Etchings collection by Jackie Kunkel.

Here is the original version - also made with Island Batik fabrics but in a more muted colorway.

Patterns are available as both Print (with free shipping) and PDF version from Etsy shop.

Stacked Deck is designed for precut 10" squares and a coordinating background fabric.  This pattern is so much fun to make and looks great regardless of your fabric choices.

Patterns are available in both Print and PDF versions as well in my Etsy shop.

Fall Decorating - Tables and More

We had a family gathering yesterday so I broke out the Fall decor for our house.  I tried to keep it fairly simple and light since it will be around for several months.  I typically don't decorate for Christmas until after Thanksgiving so I'll be using this color palette for the next 3 months.

We have two large dining tables and I try to style them similarly but not identical since they are in different rooms.

Even though we live in a really small town, we have an amazing florist.  I showed up bright and early on Saturday morning with my "vases" and she hooked me up with some beautiful greenery and blooms that I could add to with flowers from my garden.

On this table, I used my Let's Gather table runner.  It's an easy pattern to adjust the length specific for your table.

As many of you know, I'm a lover of anything antique and vintage.  Hubby has a vintage glass oil bottle and it is the perfect dispenser for M & M's!   I wish our guests would have ate more because now they are temptation for me.

The flowers for one table are styled in a 1/2 gallon blue canning jar and on the other table they are in a green depression glass pitcher.

Since this table is rectangular, I like to use the rectangular runner on it.  This runner is from my Learn to Machine Bind Your Quilt DVD.

I've added one of my reclaimed barn wood candlesticks from the Mark Twigg Studio and Gallery to finish the look.

We have this random corner that doesn't have any furniture in it.  So I added a ladder with a few quilts draped over it.  This will be easy for me to update and change throughout the Fall.  I have Fall Fancy hanging on top and Autumn Bliss is hanging underneath it.

I also have a healthy collection of vintage crocks ... some folks might call it more like hoarding or an addiction but I think collection is a good word!  I love to roll quilts and tuck them into crocks.  It makes the crocks seem a bit more useful!

I didn't get the quilts changed from summer to fall in this crock - shh, don't tell anyone!

On the couches, I added The Winterberry pillows.  Even though they are technically Christmas, they worked fine with the decor.  The free pattern for the pillows is still available

And here is the other pillow.  And yes, I have a thing for Victorian style couches too :)

Fall Fashion Show - of Quilts, that is!

Hey everybody!  I've been seeing a lot of advertisement for Fall Fashions lately - so why not a Fall Fashion Show of Quilts!   It's that time of year to start thinking about changing up the decor.  Putting away Spring / Summer and the random Christmas piece that got missed (please tell me I'm not the only one!) and breaking out all things Fall.  Now is the perfect time to start stitching up a new Fall Quilt or two!

So let's get this Fall Fashion Show started.

First up is one of my faves.  It's made with one of my best selling patterns -  Sunburst Strips & Squares.  This version is in an Autumnal colorway.

Just grab a bundle of precut 2-1/2" strips in your favorite fall collection and some background fabric and you are ready to stitch!  Or to make it easy, I have kits available too.

The name says it all with this quilt - Autumn Bliss!  The warm burgundy and the pumpkin orange just ooze fall goodness.  This is actually one of my favorite snuggling quilts.  And yes, I use my quilts!  So does my family and my dogs too!  I only have pdf patterns available on this quilt - I'm not sure why ... I guess I need to get more print patterns ordered!

Still not ready to commit to Fall - I get it.  There is still a lot of summer left.  I've still got hopes of spending a day just plopped in a lake and soaking up some rays before too long.  Peacock Proud works as a perfect transitional quilt between summer and fall and is made with precut 2-1/2" strips. I have both PDF and print patterns available.  Print patterns have free shipping for your convenience too!

Like any good fashion show - it's now intermission time!  Don't worry, I have more fall quilts to share so stay tuned for the next blog post.

Fall Fabric Bundles in my Etsy Shop that You Can't Resist

I've been pretty open that I'm struggling with this Fall thing - it's here already and I'm not ready! Since I haven't been successful in rolling back time, I guess I just have to embrace it!

Last week I shared my Fall Fancy quilt that is in Quilter's World Spooktacular Halloween Quilting book that just came out.  This is a gorgeous scrappy quilt that is a lot of fun and really easy to assemble. For your convenience, here is a direct link to purchase the pattern.   In case you missed the original blog post, this link will take you directly to it to learn more about the quilt.

Fall Fancy in Quilter's World Spooktacular Halloween Quilting Book

As much as I want to deny it - Fall is here!  The temperatures are dropping and I'm already planning to roast marshmallows around the fire pit next week.

I want to share one of my latest designs with you - Fall Fancy.   It's in Quilter's World's new Spooktacular Halloween Quilting book.  I gave you a sneak peak last week when the quilt came back from the publisher with the promise of a proper blog post .. well here is that proper blog post!

Fall Fancy combines a couple of my favorite elements - leaf blocks and flying geese.  However, these aren't ordinary leaf blocks, they include some log cabin strips in them too... just for fun.  The quilt is pieced in rows, which seems to make it go together quicker too and we all love quilts that are quick and easy to assemble.

Fall Fancy is a great stash busting quilt too.  When I designed it, I knew my autumnal stash bin was overflowing and I was hoping that this quilt would make a big dent in it ... well, it didn't! So I guess I will just have to make more stash-busting quilts :)

I also want to thank The Warm Company for providing the Soft & Bright batting I used in the sample quilt.

If you haven't checked out this book yet - Spooktacular Halloween Quilting has so many neat projects in it for your fall decorating - table runners & mats, pillowcases, quilts, mug rugs and more!  It's one you definitely want to purchase.

Designer Tips & Techniques Virtual Show - August 4-6, 2020

Hey Everybody!

It's time again for this month's Designer Tips & Techniques Virtual Show.

This is such a fun event where I get so many kind comments - I love presenting them!

This month I'll be presenting on Wednesday August 5 at 1 p.m. EST on my Masterpiece Quilting Facebook page.   I hope you will join me!

I normally keep it a surprise, but I will go ahead and let you know what I'll be sharing with you!  I'm going to be talking about organization & workflow - which means making quilts more efficiently with less wasted time!  I'll be sharing the exact same processes I use weekly as I design and make quilts for magazines and fabric companies.  If you have any friends who you think would be interested in this - be sure to share this post with them.

How does the virtual show work? If you are new to the event here's a quick rundown on how it works.

At the top of the hour (EST), a different designer will be presenting on their facebook page.  It's as easy as following the links below.  Each presentation will be about 15 minutes long.

It's a quick and easy way to learn something new and meet some of your favorite designers all at the same time!

Fabric Bundles in my Etsy Shop

I just wanted to share a quick listing of the fabric bundles in my Etsy shop that have been popular for personal face protection.   I know many of us are scrambling to make sure our family members have masks if they need them, so I felt it was easiest to list them all here.  Just as soon as I think we are prepared, we need more!  Each bundle included free shipping!

Least expensive option is a 10 Fat Quarter bundle - our pick, so you won't be getting the exact fabrics shown but a mix of lights / darks / prints / tonals. These are perfect for everyday masks - the ones we keep in cars, by the door, in backpacks, lunch bags, etc.

Most popular is the 6 fat quarter bundle of blue solids and tonals.  They are masculine and a great substitute for black fabric, which is super hard to find right now.  Popular for teachers or business men.

These have been a popular request for girls going back to school.  6 fat quarter bundle of pastel solids.  They go with everything and are in classic colors.

For my farm animal lovers, here's the bundle for you!  6 fat quarter bundle of assorted farm animal print fabrics.

If anyone would have told me 6 months ago that I would be selling fabric for personal protection, I would have thought you were crazy ... but here I am!  Be safe. Be well.
